ADULT
NON - RESIDENTIAL SERVICES A.C.E.
Program - The A.C.E. Program is a diverse, positive day program for young adults ages nineteen and over. The goal is to provide individuals with opportunities to enhance life skills, access the community, obtain volunteer positions if desired and to have fun within a safe learning environment. Although the program consists of a small group, staff always strive to identify and meet the individuals needs of each participant. This year some participants have been assisted with transportation training, grocery shopping, money handling, wood working, and reading. Occupational Center The Occupational Center and Woodshop, combined, support up to 30 individuals. We focus on lifeskills, community access, recreation and leisure through a variety of fun- filled activities and events. Supported Employment Program Our goal is to provide services which help individuals make a successful transition to the workplace. Services include Pre-Employment training, assistance with locating suitable employment and on-the-job support until independence is achieved.
ADULT COMMUNITY RESPITE PROGRAM Adult Community Respite Care Matches adults with an approved, screened, caregiver forshort-term respite care; up to a maximum number of days per year.
ADULT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES Independent Living Program The Independent Living program assists adults with developmental disabilities to live in their own homes in the community. At present 22 people are receiving part time support and training in residential and community life skills. ILP also operates a weekly Drop In and Community Kitchen which provide social, recreational and educational opportunities for many of the same people. Adult Respite The Adult Respite Home assists in the support of two individuals on a permanent basis, and provides support to a variety of other individuals on a temporary basis in a home-like atmosphere. Bordas Bordas is a custom built duplex with two bedrooms on each side, one side is wheelchair friendly, while the other is completely wheelchair accessible. Bordas presently provides a home for three women who have compatible interests. Carleton Place Carleton Place is a duplex model home, with two women residing on each side. There is a twenty-four hour rotational staff model at Carleton, however, the residents can be left on their own at home and are quite independent. The residents at Carleton Place enjoy a very active and individualized lifestyle. Green Gables Green Gables is a condo, home to two women. One of the women living at Green Gables uses a wheelchair and has high physical needs. The home is staffed with a twenty-four hour rotational model. The women at Green Gables are very busy and enjoy many social activities. Salish Salish House is a co-ed facility that provides support to four individuals in the Sardis area. Taylor Taylor House is home to four gentlemen. It is situated in Sardis with grassy fields and beautiful mountain scenery surrounding. We were the original Group Home of the Chilliwack Society for Community Living and today we still strive to be original in every regard. Wilmada Wilmada Place is a large home located in Chilliwack and is home for four gentlemen, who with support staff make it the base of an active and all-inclusive quality life. A busy home but also a welcoming environment.
CHILDREN'S SERVICES Provides community respite for children aged birth through 18 years. Provides recreational programs, life skills training, and child & youth care workers for school-aged children. Community Respite Care: Matches children with an approved, screened, caregiver for short-term respite care; up to a maximum number of days per year. After School & Saturday Activity Programs: Recreational and social programs for children aged 6 to 12 years; snacks, crafts, games and activities. Teen Club: Afterschool, evening and Saturday activities for 13 to 18 year olds. Teens register for and select the club(s) they are interested in: Fitness (Girl Power, Guys Only), Cooking (Culinary Crew, Breakfast Club), Recreation ( Rec, Rock n' Roll) and Crafty Creations. Child & Youth Care Workers: Based on individual contracts with the Ministry, provide 1/1 support for a set number of hours per week to address child-specific goals. Summer Fun Program: Fully integrated Summer Day Camp run in cooperation with the Chilliwack Family for Children aged 6 to 12 years; also a half day camp for 31/2 to 51/2 year olds. Summer Teen Program/Clubs: Full and half day teen clubs, with additional options from the school year clubs: Making Memories, Chefs n'sink, The Great Outdoors, Rec Rock n' Roll, Girl Power, and Guys Only.
